BODIES OF WORK ::

Finley Coyl compels fantastic representations of queerness in tableaus and experimental portraiture. Her drawings expand the limits of human form, layering images of patterns and found objects onto photographs of bodies assembled in impossible and shifting positions. Her performances conjure these drawings to life - enacting repetitive, endurance-based movement within sculptural installations. Her intricate installations depict individuals in the worlds they inhabit and the worlds they imagine and manifest. Coyl's work unmoors assumed normality and unravels patterns of becoming grounded in the sensational.
